Our booth design for the M+ Museum at Art Basel Hong Kong transforms visitors into exhibition objects. The theme for this year’s booth was “Human Library” – instead of showing information about the museum through infographics, the idea was to host group conversations between museum staff and the public.
A collection of 12 chairs, each consisting of a 2m tall lamp pole with perforated lamp shade, were designed to frame and illuminate visitors while keeping the booth space relatively open. Interaction with the public was heightened through a “question wall”, a perforated screen with question magnets with which visitors could take to initiate conversation with museum staff.
