The installation presents Hong Kong’s repertoire of architectural vocabularies. The relentlessly repetitive yet highly efficient towers, the density of giant scaffolding, the obsession with vibrant colours on building facades, and the eclecticism that allows various architectural and functional elements to coexist with each other- all these characters form both the physical and mental image of Hong Kong.
The white steel wire mesh resembles the repetitiveness of high-rise structures but with the lightness of scaffolding. Within the white mesh block, smaller colored blocks pull apart to form different sizes of furniture. Such flexibility references the city’s ability to constantly adapt and transform according to the context.
