Embroideries of East Kowloon
This intallation consists of five separate circular layers that weaves together different districts of Hong Kong. Each layer is an abstraction of the symbol representing one of the five districts that the new East Kowloon Cultural Centre will bring together. Made of steel, the layers overlap to create a continuous fabric, reminiscent of the textile industry that is part of the site’s industrial past. Alternating between moments of density and openness, ambiguity and clarity, the perception of the installation constantly shifts, inviting people to get closer and experience the space created within.
